Henry J. Charrabé
MANAGING DIRECTOR & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Henry Charrabé serves as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fluence. He brings more than a decade of experience in developing water management and investment solutions to his role at the Company.
Prior to the establishment of Fluence, Mr. Charrabé served as President and Chief Executive Officer of RWL Water since its inception in 2010. During his tenure, Mr. Charrabé was instrumental in establishing RWL Water as a global player through strategic acquisitions and significant organic growth. Prior to RWL Water Mr. Charrabé was a senior executive at RSL Investments Corp. in the United States and Europe. From 2003 to 2005, Mr. Charrabé served as Chief Operating Officer of W2W, an electrocoagulation wastewater technology company.
Mr. Charrabé received a B.A. from the Freie Universität in Berlin and Tel Aviv University. He earned an M.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in International Economics and Finance, both from Brandeis University, as well as an M.A. in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Robert Wowk serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Fluence where he is responsible for all aspects of the Company’s financial operations, statutory reporting, and internal controls. Mr. Wowk has more than 25 years of experience in finance and business development in industrial gases, renewable energy and water management.
Prior to joining Fluence, he served as CFO for RWL Water, Global Operations. Prior to joining RWL Water in 2017, Mr. Wowk held progressively senior financial roles with The Linde Group, Airgas Inc. and Gulf Cryo, LLC in the USA, Asia, Latin America and Middle East. Mr. Wowk also served as CFO of sPower, a privately held major developer of utility scale wind and solar projects with a portfolio value in excess of $1 billion.
Mr. Wowk received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of Business.
Spencer D. Smith, Esq.
CHIEF LEGAL OFFICER
Spencer D. Smith serves as the Chief Legal Officer of Fluence with responsibility for the legal affairs of the Company and providing counsel to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer and other members of senior management. Prior to Fluence, Mr. Smith served as the General Counsel for RWL Water.
Prior to joining RWL Water in 2016, Mr. Smith practiced corporate law at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in New York where he served as the principal outside legal counsel to RWL Water. While at Akin Gump, Mr. Smith maintained a diverse and active corporate transactional practice focused on representing public and private companies, private equity firms, hedge funds and family offices in connection with significant corporate events, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, restructurings, distressed asset sales and commercial contracts. Mr. Smith also regularly advised boards of directors, senior management, shareholders and creditors on all aspects of corporate governance matters. Prior to joining Akin Gump in 2011, Mr. Smith worked for IAP Worldwide Services, a government contractor and former Cerberus portfolio company, and practiced law at Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy LLP in New York.
Mr. Smith graduated from Colgate University with a B.A. in Political Science and received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. He is a member of the New York Bar.
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Philippe Laval serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Fluence and is responsible for the Company’s global business and operational development. Mr. Laval has more than 28 years of leadership experience in operations and technology companies in the environmental industry in Europe, the UK, Australia, North America and Latin America. Mr. Laval served as Chief Operating Officer of RWL Water for 3 years prior to joining Fluence and has extensive experience in the global water and wastewater industry.
Before joining RWL Water in 2014, Mr. Laval spent more than 20 years in various roles with Veolia Water. In 2002, Mr. Laval served as Managing Director of United Water International, an Australian joint venture between Veolia, Thames Water and KBR. In 2005, he was appointed COO of Veolia Water North America, based in Houston, TX where he was responsible for 3,000 employees and a $600 million municipal and industrial business in North America. In 2007, Mr. Laval served as Veolia’s CEO of Industrial Solutions in North and Latin America, leading the implementation and development of the industrial solutions activities. Immediately prior to his departure from Veolia, Mr. Laval was appointed Managing Director of Industrial Outsourcing in Europe and Turkey to lead the growth and transformation of the industrial outsourcing activities.Philippe Laval earned his Master of Science in Fluid Mechanics at the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse and his Master in Business Administration at the University of Economics, also in Toulouse.
GLOBAL VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES
Ilan Wilf serves as the Global Vice President of Sales for Fluence. Mr. Wilf was previously the VP of Sales for Emefcy. He has over 22 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry,and has worked in executive management roles for leading global technology companies such as Nanostone, Sepro Membranes, Atlantium, Infilco Degremont and Hydranautics.
Ilan holds a BSc. degree in Chemistry from the University of California Santa Barbara and MBA degree in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix.
GLOBAL VICE PRESIDENT OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Yaron Bar-Tal serves as Global Vice President of Product Development of Fluence. Mr. Bar-Tal previously served as the VP of Engineering at Emefcy.
He brings nearly 15 years of experience in managing large scale, advanced, multi-disciplinary R&D projects at leading companies such as Elbit Systems, Orbotech and Matan digital printers. Mr. Bar-Tal holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in mechanical engineering and business administration from Tel-Aviv University.
CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Ronen Shechter serves as the Chief Technology Officer of Fluence. Mr. Shechter co-founded Emefcy in 2008 and served as their CTO for over 9 years prior to joining Fluence. In his role at Emefcy, Mr. Shechter was dedicated to providing solutions based on membrane aerated biofilm reactors (MABR) and to developing electrogenic bio-reactors (EBR) for wastewater treatment. Mr. Shechter has over 25 years’ experience in water and wastewater technology and has over a dozen of granted patents and pending applications in the field.
Prior to co-founding Emefcy, Mr. Shechter co-founded AqWise, a developer and provider of MBBR and IFAS solutions for different wastewater treatment applications. Mr. Shechter began his career working for more than 10 years in water and wastewater R&D at TAMI, an Institute for industrial R&D of the ICL group, where he was primarily involved in, and eventually in charge of, desalination technology. Mr. Shechter is a chemical engineer and received his degree, cum laude, from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
