Ben Fash

CEO and Managing Director

Ben Fash is the CEO and Managing Director of Fluence Corporation, bringing more than 20 years of water-industry and capital-markets experience. He combines deep financial operating expertise with a strong track record in M&A, capital raising, company building and strategic leadership.

Mr. Fash joined Fluence in 2023 as CFO, where he played a key role in the company’s strategic transition and turnaround. Previously, he served as CFO of Dumas Mining and as EVP & CFO of Newterra, a global provider of modular water and wastewater treatment solutions. At Newterra, he partnered with private equity owners to double the size of the business through organic growth and M&A while dramatically increasing profitability and improving cash flow management, culminating in a successful exit in 2020.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Fash worked in private equity at Birch Hill Equity Partners and began his career in investment banking at Credit Suisse and RBC Capital Markets.

Mr. Fash graduated with a degree in Economics and Law from Williams College in Massachusetts.

Natalya Medinina

VP, CORPORATE CONTROLLER

Natalya Medinina serves as the VP, Corporate Controller of Fluence, where she is responsible for accounting operations, including financial reports, internal controls and budgeting.

Ms. Medinina has 20 years of experience in US GAAP and IFRS reporting, technical accounting, internal controls and FP&A.
Prior to joining Fluence, she was responsible for consolidation and internal reporting as a senior manager, accounting, at Sojitz Corporation of America, a US subsidiary of the Japanese integrated global trading company. Prior to that, Ms. Medinina worked as an internal audit manager and a consolidation and internal reporting manager for Quintiles Transnational Corporation (now iQVIA), an American multinational company serving the combined industries of health information technology and clinical research. Ms. Medinina began her career as a public accountant with KPMG.

Ms. Medinina is a NY State CPA and a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA). She received her B.S. in Accounting from the State University of Ivanovo, Russia.

Rick Cisterna

Chief Growth Officer

As Chief Growth Officer at Fluence, Rick Cisterna is responsible for developing and implementing Fluence’s strategies for revenue growth and market expansion in high priority markets, by analyzing market trends, market drivers, competition, products and solutions, pricing, sales approach and channel partnerships. Mr. Cisterna oversees Fluence’s Global Water Services business unit, key account management, marketing, and rep and agent networks, and ensures consistent reporting and incentives for our global sales team.

Mr. Cisterna brings 30 years of executive leadership and business development experience in the water and wastewater sector and has directed the development of more than US $1 billion in projects across municipal, industrial and commercial markets.

Prior to joining Fluence, Mr. Cisterna was the Founder and President of Renewable Organics Infrastructure, a consulting and project development firm specializing in sustainable infrastructure. Prior to this, Rick served as Executive Vice President of Business Development at Natural Systems Utilities, where he advanced decentralized water infrastructure solutions. Mr. Cisterna previously spent nearly two decades at Hazen and Sawyer as a partner, leading business development, corporate strategic planning and major project implementation.

Mr. Cisterna holds an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Osvaldo (Ozzie) Llanes

Chief Financial Officer

Joining Fluence in December 2025 as the Chief Financial Officer, Ozzie Llanes brings several decades of global finance and audit leadership experience across the water and specialty-chemical industries.  Mr. Llanes is focused on driving capital efficiency, enhancing investor relations and integrating global financial processes to support the company’s long-term growth and profitability. His extensive background in financial strategy, operational excellence and corporate governance has strengthened Fluence’s global finance capabilities as the company continues to expand its water and wastewater treatment solutions technology portfolio.

Ozzie previously served as Chief Audit Executive at Xylem, leading global internal audit, enterprise risk management and governance programs across more than 150 countries. Earlier in his career, he held senior finance leadership roles at Arch Chemicals Inc., including CFO of the Personal Care Division, its largest business unit.

Mr. Llanes is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Montclair State University, as well as an MBA from St. John’s University.

Spencer D. Smith, Esq.

Chief Talent and Legal Officer

As Chief Talent and Legal Officer of Fluence, Spencer Smith leads the company’s global people and culture strategy as well as its legal, compliance and risk management functions. In this role, Mr. Smith is a strategic enabler of growth through leadership development, organizational design, talent acquisition, training and total rewards to ensure Fluence attracts, develops and retains the best global talent in the water industry, while fostering a One Fluence approach across all regions. As Fluence’s Chief Legal Officer, he advised the Board, CEO, and senior leadership on legal, governance and risk management matters.

Mr. Smith has been closely connected to Fluence and its predecessors for almost 15 years. Spencer joined RWL as its general counsel in 2016 and helped guide the merger of RWL Water and Emefcy to create Fluence in 2017. Prior to joining the Company, he practiced corporate law at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in New York, where he advised public and private companies, private equity firms, and financial sponsors on M&A, restructurings, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions, as well as corporate governance. While at Akin Gump, Mr. Smith served as RWL’s principal external corporate counsel, advising on several acquisitions for RWL Water, including in the US, Italy, Argentina and Brazil.

Prior to Akin Gump, Mr. Smith worked for IAP Worldwide Services, a defense contractor, and practiced corporate law at Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy LLP in New York.

Mr. Smith holds a B.A. in Political Science from Colgate University and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. He is a member of the New York Bar.
