In order to meet irrigation standards, the treated water had to have a total salinity of less than 240 mg\/L, with less than .5 mg\/L of hydrocarbons and a sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) of less than 10. The plant is designed to allow 90% of the feed water to be used for irrigation, while 10% (including RO brine) is disposed of via deep well reinjection. Our fully containerized solution uses ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis to produce cooling makeup water, and adds second-pass reverse osmosis, GTM degassing, and CEDI polishing to produce ultrapure water for boiler use. A sequential batch reactor (SBR) was converted into a continuous bioreactor with an Airlift membrane clarification step. With the new technology, the treatment plant can handle\u00a0higher concentrations of sludge, with a smaller footprint than a conventional plant’s.
