Este fen\u00f3meno se denomina poder adsorbente. La adsorci\u00f3n es la responsable de purificar, desodorizar y decolorar el agua, l\u00edquidos o gases que entren en contacto con el elemento adsorbente.<\/p>\n<p>El carb\u00f3n activado se caracteriza por poseer una gran superficie espec\u00edfica (alrededor de 500 a 1500 m<sup>2<\/sup>\/g) con una infinita cantidad de poros muy finos que son los que retienen (adsorben) ciertos compuestos no deseados. Son las altas temperaturas, la atm\u00f3sfera especial y la inyecci\u00f3n de vapor del proceso de fabricaci\u00f3n del carb\u00f3n activado lo que \u00abactiva\u00bb y crea la porosidad.<\/p>\n<p>Es un proceso altamente eficiente para remover cloro y materia org\u00e1nica, causante de desagradables olores, colores o sabores del agua.
