American-Made Aerators

Fluence aerators are made in the U.S. with 100% American stainless steel for compliance with the Buy American Act (BAA) and Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA).

Engineering, workmanship, and stainless steel construction set the TORNADO® and HURRICANE® lines apart

The Buy American Act (BAA) and the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) are complex regulatory frameworks, but they can be distilled to a simple statement: To take part in government-funded public works projects, the materials and products you source must be made in the United States. According to Title 41, which guides public contracts, this includes any contract for the “construction, alteration, or repair of any public building or public work” in the U.S. For high-dollar projects, the regulations are somewhat relaxed under the Trade Agreements Act (TAA) to include goods from countries that have trade agreements with the U.S., but in most cases BAA/ARRA compliance will require buying American.

If your project requires it, finding a top-quality American aerator that is fully BAA/ARRA compliant is not as difficult as you might think.

Fluence’s aerator division is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a city highly regarded for its machinery manufacturing. Fluence produces a full catalog of seven aerators, including the flagship TORNADO® and HURRICANE® lines, which have become the gold standard among consulting engineers.

Not only are the units built in the U.S., but we also have the option of 100% American-made stainless steel for full BAA/ARRA compliance.

What makes Fluence aerators so good? High-quality engineering and pride in workmanship are parts of the answer, but the key is stainless steel. In terms of finish, stiffness, durability, and resistance to corrosion, stainless steel is superior to all other materials commonly used in the most challenging marine applications, for instance, plastic, aluminum, and even galvanized steel.

HURRICANE® and TORNADO® Aerators

Fluence’s submersible HURRICANE® aerator/mixer line features all 304 or 316 stainless steel construction, an all-stainless steel air-intake, and a high-efficiency, nonfouling impeller made from a single piece of Rockwell 45 HRC hardened 17-4 stainless steel. The HURRICANE® also grinds and cuts solids for high contact between bacteria, oxygen, and waste. The HURRICANE® is ideal in a number of sectors, such as municipal wastewater treatment, and industries including food and beverage, dairy, and meat-processing.

Fluence TORNADO® subsurface aerators have stainless steel floats, enabling them to stand the test of time, sunlight, and saline conditions in lagoon systems and mechanical wastewater treatment plants. The motor on the TORNADO® — the most rugged on the market — is attached with a stainless steel motor mount, and the heat-treated, 100% stainless steel shaft is housed in a patented stainless steel protective tube as it rotates the Fluence-designed, all-stainless propeller.
